Honourable mentions to a couple of 90s shows...

Kiss FM

Kiss FM in Louth ran a very informative programme, concentrating on the north-east region but also looking at the world of radio in general. Here's a great sample from a show that ran on New Year's Eve in 1992 and features a review of the year just finished.

ABC 94

Later in the decade ABC 94 in Dublin ran The Network Radio Show with Mike Williams at the helm. Again the focus was across the radio world with Steve Conway presenting a weekly news round up from across the world of radio.

COAST FM

The Free Radio Show on Coast 103 was the spark that set The Anorak Hour alight. Coast was a Simon Maher (as Pete Reed) station and along with Barry Dunne, much like they had done in earlier times in a more structured format on Radio Dublin, found themselves chatting about radio on the mics one Sunday afternoon. Encouraged by the response, they launched 'The Free Radio Show' on August 15th 1993, playing out recordings, bandscans and whatever news they had from the world of radio.
