
Wicklow Community Radio started life as a festival station, Wicklow Regatta Radio, in Summer 1982. The station, which broadcast on 1512kHz from 1 Wentworth Place, operated with a true community ethos with training and facilities to enable training of high importance. The station owner was Leo Doyle.
In summer 1985 they changed name to Wicklow Local Community Broadcasting, WLCB for short.
