WEST COAST COMMUNITY RADIO

WCCR – West Coast Community Radio – was an ’80s pirate station in Galway. It launched in 1981 and ran for no more than a couple of years on MW only, closing in June 1983.

The following memories thanks to Shane Martin:-
WCCR began broadcasting under the management of Jerry Delaney. Great guy (full of enthusiasm). They broadcast from a frozen chicken warehouse, a few miles outside Galway City. Jerry was one of the on-air personnel, along with the Mulkerrins brothers, Mike and Ken. The late night jock was a guy called Bob Huston (great guy), super smooth and perfectly suited to the midnight slot.

Brendan Mee:-
The studios were upstairs. There was a food company downstairs and when they closed the freezer doors hard the records jumped
