The Killeen Home Service was one of the earliest of Ireland’s regular unlicensed stations. Ran by a boy called Tony Boylan from his home on Killeen Road in Rathmines, just south of Dublin’s city centre, The Killeen Home Service first appeared in 1945, and ran usually on Sundays.
He built a new transmitter and in the early ’50s he added Saturdays to his Sunday transmissions.
With an increase of power came a new station name – Radio 200.
Tony was also later responsible for Radio Laxy and The Ballymun Home Service, amongst others.
