Tallaght Community Radio launched as Wonderland Radio in May 1984. At the start of 1986 it started identifying as both and later in the year it adopted the new name exclusively.
TCR broadcast from the Greenhills Road area of Tallaght, which is located in south west Dublin although, for a short time, the studio was located in the back of an ambulance.
It continued broadcasting up until the introduction of a new Broadcasting Act at the start of 1989 which forced all unlicensed broadcasters to vacate the airwaves.
In 1999 some members of the team reformed the station and managed to secure a community licence, continuing to use the name Tallaght Community Radio. The name was later changed to Tallaght FM.
