Skull and Bones Radio System were a ’70s shortwave pirate. The strange name comes from the fact that they wanted to deliberately start a station with a weird name.
They arrived on air in 1977 but their time was short-lived due to an attack on their studios on September 24th 1977 by supporters of Radio Dublin, who erroneously believed that SBRS were responsible for blocking Dublin’s signal into Ballymun.
Presenters included Mick Taylor, The Freaky Phantom, Al Steward and Gary St John.
Equipment consisted of four BSR mono decks, two cassette decks and two four-channel mixers.
