Shannonside Local Radio

Shannonside Local Radio was a Kerry-based pirate which ran from May 1987 through to May 1988. It was operated by Seán Dineen and was based in his bedroom in the house he lived in at that time which was located just outside Causeway Village. Seán was the only presenter ever to appear on the station and he played music from the ’70s and ’80s each night between the hours of 6pm and midnight. He took no advertisements, it was run as a hobby rather than a commercial station.
At launch, it was available on 95FM with 35 watts of transmitter power. It later moved to 105FM and could be heard across north Kerry, with the signal stretching to the west coast of Co Clare.
The station eventually ceased as it was causing local TV interference.
