RTÉ 2FM

RTÉ 2FM began life as RTÉ Radio 2 in May 31st 1979 and was RTÉ’s answer to the ever-growing pop music pirate radio scene. Larry Gogan played the first song aired on the station- ‘Like Clockwork’ by The Boomtown Rats. The station went to air nationwide on 90-92MHz and on 612kHz nationwide and locally to Dublin on 1251kH.

The first rebranding to 2FM came in 1988 and the next, in 1990, to RTÉ 2FM.
