Ringsend Community Radio was an 80s Dublin seasonal community pirate which appeared on air for annual local festivals. It was one of a number of similar stations established by Dave Reddy which would ‘pop up’ in whatever town was holding a summer festival.
The idea for the station came after the local organiser heard Reddy’s first such station, which ran in Sandymount in May 1982.
It first appeared on July 9th 1982 testing on 1512kHz and identifying as Radio Ringsend. It was on air for the Ringsend Community Fortnight, located in a vacant shop in the area.
The station ran 6 times between that first appearance in 1982 through to the 1988 closedowns,
