Radio Mi Amigo first appeared on November 14th 1979 using the name Radio Caroline South. It changed name shortly afterwards. Based in Dún Laoghaire in south Co Dublin the station were forced to close on September 7th 1980 due to causing local interference to a stereo system. Their frequency was 220metres.
The station returned and it became a SW pirate broadcasting to an international audience styling itself as the sound of Irish Free Radio on shortwave. It was run by Kieran Phillips.
