Radio Clonmel first appeared on 220metres in August 1977, originally broadcasting on Sundays from 2-6pm.
Later it was on air for 4-6 hours each day, sometimes broadcasting for a lot less.
Brendan O’Mahoney, who was the owner of the Clonmel Express weekly newspaper, bought a transmitter and began broadcasting in the town.
The station played a mix of music including pop, new wave, rock and traditional.
Technical difficulties led to its closure in March 1979.
