Radio Carousel Drogheda – Radiowaves FM

Radio Carousel Drogheda was a satellite sister station of Radio Carousel in Dundalk, the first of its kind. It opened in January 1981 on 215m and was located at Stameen Court, next to the Boyne Valley Hotel in Drogheda. It was designed as a booster station to get Carousel’s signal into Dublin. Despite this, some local programming was aired from the station’s purpose-built studio but over the course of the station’s history this can best be described as erratic. The studios were also regularly used for live link ups between Drogheda and Dundalk. The transmitter was eventually switched off late in 1982.
