Hits 106 were a Dublin pirate who were previously known as DLR

Hits 106 were originally known as DLR and started broadcasting in early 1991.

Calling itself Dublin and Wicklow’s “Premier dance music station”, Hits 106 was available over much of Dublin on 106.1MHz and to Wicklow on 107.1MHz. Whilst for understandable commercial reasons they focused on the dance aspect of their playlist, the unfortunate impression was given that no other musical style was aired – nothing could be further from the truth.

With a range of specialist music shows, Hits 106 was a worthwhile listen even for those wishing to avoid dance.

ODTR activity forced the station off the air in 2001.
