Freedom FM were on air for 8 years from very humble beginnings on March 6th 1995. The station featured lots of live programming (including a relay of BBC Radio 1’s breakfast show) and their playlist consisted of the Irish top 30 and the UK top 40 chart music, with the best in dance, rnb, rock and hits from the past.

There was a good blend of male & female jocks, with a lot more female voices than heard anywhere else. This gave the station a unique sound.
Freedom FM was a very popular and very welcome addition to the airwaves. Its popularity soared over the final couple of years of its life, ironically – and despite – the commencement of legal services aimed at the same audience. There is also a long list of now-legal presenters who progressed from Freedom 92FM.
