DUBLIN’S 98FM

Dublin’s 98FM
Early Radiowaves Station Page
98FM broadcasts around the clock to Dublin city and county on the FM band. Afraid to take chances, the station pumps out a safe, formatted style of programming on 98.1MHz which no doubt keeps the finances ticking over and is hugely popular with radio listeners in its target audience bracket.
98FM is incredibly slick, its production and imaging are of the highest order.
Awarded a licence after the 1988 broadcasting shake-up, the station started life as “Classic Hits 98FM” and like other similar stations, the only requirement of the presenters they employ seems to be a good voice. From their website: ‘Each presenter gets a “music log,” which lays out most of the songs for their shift. It includes information like what year the song is from, how long the song is, how long the intro is and whether the song ends or just fades out.’
