Community Radio 257

Dublin Community Broadcasting appeared on May 29th 1983 in the midst of the chaos surrounding the raids a few days earlier on Radio Nova and Sunshine Radio.

They changed name very shortly afterwards to Community Radio 257.

The station, which broadcast from Sardis Nighclub in Portmarnock, north Co Dublin, had equipment seized by P&T officials on December 9th 1983 due to interference at Dublin Airport.

The previous weekend the station (unnamed) had been advertised for sale in the Sunday World, and they – ironically – were in the process of closing down. They had returned as a one off so that a potential buyer could hear the station in action.

Is there anything you can add to the information above?
Or do you know of a station not listed in the database?
