Capitol FM

Capitol 98 first appeared as a test carrier on 98.3MHz on Monday, May 15th 19821. On June 10th the station identified and launched on the 27th with Tony Allan on air. Lawrence John, Peter Madison, Steve Marshall and Scott Williams, were also involved.

It was based in Robert Emmet House on Dundrum Road in Milltown in South Dublin and was run by Kevin McNamee who was the owner of Alto Studios.

The station had a weak signal and found advertising difficult to come by. It fizzled out quite quickly and was gone for good by the end of the Autumn.

In their short time on air they did also launch a pirate TV station called Capitol TV but this was shut down very quickly.
