
Kandy Radio was a Galway-based pirate station that appeared in Ballinasloe in July 1986 on 98.0MHz and 1386kHz.
John McGrath managed the station which was based on Society Street in a small elevated building which was the former Kelly’s Printing Works.
As noted during an Anoraks UK visit in Autumn 1986, the station’s equipment was basic comprising of a disco unit and a mixer, a cartridge player and a cassette deck for playing out advertisements and jingles,
In July 1987, following a few days off the air, the station returned on a new medium wave frequency of 1404kHz.
Kandy Radio ceased broadcasting on April 12th 1988.
