
Longford pirate station
Independent Radio Longford, had been on air for two years when a new broadcasting act forced all the pirates off the air in December 1988.
Independent Radio Longford launched to the county in 1986 operating from studios based at 2 Ballymahon Street. It would later relocate to New Street.
The station was founded by Gerry Conboy (pictured in the studio) and the frequencies used were 99FM; 101FM; 347mtrs MW.
Music output was mainly MOR and pop, with some country music programmes airing off peak.
