Eden FM Community Radio

Eden FM Community Radio serves the towns of Edenderry, Clonbullogue and Rhode in County Offaly, Ireland.

The station started its life as a youth service called YAG FM (Youth Action Group) and was run by the Youth Café Edenderry and a local family.

YAG FM was licensed by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland under a thirty day Temporary Broadcasting Contract. It was based in the Youth Café and was youth-led. It broadcast for seven days in June and December 2013 and March 2014. The station returned for a second licence run from June 2014, broadcasting this time from Saint Mary’s parish centre.

In 2015 the station returned again but this time under new direction and calling itself Eden FM. The service now focused on community events and news and attracted new presenters and supporters. eden FM returned again in 2016/17; however, at the end of the 2017 run the station found itself without a studio location and future licence runs were put on hold while they searched for a new premises.

In late 2018 a local business man offered the use of a premises in O’Connell Square, which is still the present home. A lot of work was required to get the building ready to broadcast from and in 2019 the station returned to air, this time calling itself Eden FM Community Radio. A purpose built state-of-the art radio studio has been built and in 2026 are in the process of building new toilet facilities and installing a new front door.

At present Eden FM Community Radio is putting together an application for a 100 day temporary licence and, if granted, this would see the station broadcasting almost every weekend for a year.
