Meath pirate station

Dunboyne Community Radio

Dunboyne Community Radio (on-air DCR) was a short-lived pirate station which ran for a few weeks in the summer of 1988. It was run by members of the Chain Youth Club and broadcast from the parish-owned building it occupied in the town’s centre, funded by a small amount of local advertising.

The station was on air usually for a few hours each night and had a number of presenters who chose their own music to play. Local news and their own jingles were also a feature of the output.

Peter Nolan supplied most of the equipment and amongst those involved were Kevin & Seán Ruane, Peter Nolan, Pam Whelan and Dave Kavanagh.
