Dream FM
Dream FM was a Dublin dance music station which was on air for a relatively short period of a few nonths in 2000
Ran by Jonathan Dempsey, Dream FM was a short-lived Dublin station which was really starting to make an impact within its specialist field when it was requested to vacate the airwaves by the ODTR.
Dream FM was born at the beginning of March 2000 with test transmissions on 95.7NHz and they launched on 10th March following a move to 96.4MHz.
Originally broadcasting in mono, the station upgraded to a stereo signal with RDS a couple of weeks later.
Broadcasting uninterrupted 30 minute dance mixes, a service not supplied by any other station, Dream FM was popular with djs and clubbers alike.
On the 19th May 2000 Dream FM were off air for routine maintenance work and ironically it was this day they were requested to cease broadcasting by the ODTR. The reason given was that their transmissions were causing interference to ntl's relay of BBC Radio 4 on 96.35MHz.
Just a few days before they closed, Dream FM had revamped their website thanks to Jonathan...and very impressive it was too.
