About
Dublin's Coast FM was the forerunner of what became Spectrum FM and then Phantom FM. On air from August 30th 1991, they used the facilities of the former pirate station, NSR. In this guise, the music station broadcast a mixture of specialist and mainstream programming for 4½ years.
Based in Pete Reed / Simon Maher's garden shed in Ballybrack, Co Dublin, Coast FM broadcast on 105.3MHz and 107.2MHz. They were also on 103.2MHz for a period. This was a relay from Stillorgan. The main transmitter was on Three Rock Mountain. There were also irregular shortwave broadcasts.
The station closed at 7pm on the evening of February 4th 1996. They took the decision due to lack of direction and commercial breakthrough. The station’s final broadcast frequency was 105.4MHz.
