Centre Radio
Centre Radio broadcast to Clonmel, in Co Tipperary. It launched in March 1986 and was operated by Paul Byrne and Eoin Ryan, who both came from CBC.
Centre Radio launched to Tipperary from studios in Abbey St, Clonmel that were on air 24 hours a day. This followed FM only tests that commenced on St Patrick's Day.
It was founded by Paul Byrne (pictured) and Eoin Ryan, who came from a rival station, CBC, who wanted a more youthful sound so Centre Radio was born, broadcasting from a studio in Abbey St, Clonmel, and later from the Old Clonmel Chemical factory on the Old Waterford Road.
The usual mix of music, news and sport could be heard around the clock on 101 and 88FM and on 240m MW.
After it closed the people behind the station launched Premier County Radio a few months later.
