Antrim pirate station
B96
Belfast-based B96 first appeared on Easter Monday (March 31st) in 1986 on 96.5MHz. It was on air between 2pm and 9pm.
On Sunday April 6th the station were heard to broadcast a Reggae music show and also a rock music show between 9pm and 2am.
Late in May they were heard over a weekend on 96.4MHz playing lots of Reggae music.
The station was very sporadic – another broadcast was noted in September 1986 on a new frequency of 95.7MHz.
By February 1987 broadcasts were becoming more frequent
They were also on air in April 1987 on 96.85MHz. More reggae, this time with Terry Hooley presenting, could be heard over the Easter weekend.
